What is Professional Year Program?
The Professional Year Program is a professional development program. This program is available to the international students who have completed their graduation from Australian universities.
The Professional Year Program includes formal learning along with workplace experience. The program lasts for one year. Interested students can apply in the domains such as computer science, engineering, and accounting. The demand for skilled graduates is dominant in the above specified fields.
International Students who want to acquire permanent residence in Australia must enrol for this program. The program leverages the skill building along with relevant work experience. After the completion of the course, the students can pursue professional careers in different fields in Australian corporate organizations. It is mandatory for the students to apply for the professional year program which has been approved by the Australian government. The Department of Immigration and Border Protection recognises approved programs only.
Who can study professional year program?
You can pursue professional year program in Australia if:
- You have completed your graduation in fields such as computer science, accounting or engineering in Australian university.
- Applicants must possess the Skilled Graduate Temporary Visa subclass 485. This temporary visa allows individuals to stay in Australia for 18 months after you have finished your studies.
- Applicants must fulfil the eligibility criteria of the Skilled Graduate Temporary Visa subclass 485. They must be below the age of 50 and finished their degree from an approved educational institute. They must also possess the relevant skills and qualifications as per the Skilled Occupation List.
- Students who have completed their graduation from an approved institution outside Australia can also enrol for the professional year program in Australia. The applicants must hold the Skilled Recognised Graduate Temporary Visa subclass 476.
