Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List 2021 Updated For Supporting Australia’s COVID Recovery
Alex Hawke MP, the Minister for Citizenship, Immigration, Multicultural Affairs, and Migrants Services, has revealed that the state has included a wide range of skilled occupation on the PMSOL “Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List.” In September 2020, it was announced first and developed in correspondence with the “National Skills Commission.” It stated that a small section of critical occupations would create job opportunities in Australia and assist the Australian recovery, which has impacted Covid-19.
The addition of 22 occupations has brought the PMSOL to 41. The Australian government has also announced that it has engaged medium, small, and large Australian employers, industry bodies, and business leaders across the country to evaluate the changes. From the stakeholders in Australia, it has received valuable feedback on critical skill vacancies. It has also taken into consideration the data from the “National Skills Commission.” As per Alex Hawke MP, it will help in updating the PMSOL.
The Morrison government is ready to support the Australian businesses. It has been done by including skilled migration as the main room of the nation’s economy.

Employer sponsored nomination and visa applications with an occupation on the PMSOL will be given priority processing. Those subclasses are:
- Temporary Skill Shortage Visa Subclass 482
- Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional Provisional Visa Subclass 494
- Employer Nomination Scheme Visa Subclass 186
Visa applicants who have been sponsored by the Australian business in the list of PMSOL occupation need to make quarantine arrangements on their own. The existing skilled migration occupation lists will still be active, but priority will be given to the occupation list present on the PMSOL.
